Q: How do I remove captions from
my screen saver without manually editing each image?
A: Just set Caption Location to
(None) in the Settings Dialog>Default Options tab, and uncheck all
Caption options in the User Modifiable Options tab.
Q: When I install and
unlock a Try & Buy screen saver, then check File>Test>Settings on the
Screen Saver Toolkit 2003 Project Manager, why is the Try & Buy tab still
there?A: File>Test>Settings and
File>Test>Run only act on your Screen Saver Project, not on the
installed screen saver. They are a simulation of the screen saver as it
would behave based on the most recent build. Changes made to an
installed screen saver will not affect the Screen Saver Project.
Q: I select an image in the Settings
Dialog Wallpaper tab, then click OK, but nothing happens.
A: You need to click the "Apply to
Desktop" button, which will immediately apply the selected image as
wallpaper.
Q: How do I make an Interactive
Flash screen saver?
A: Just create your screen
saver, then set the following options:
1: Set Screen Saver Project Wizard > Settings
Dialog > Default Options to:
Mouse > Sensitivity: Ignore mouse movement
Mouse > Button Clicks: Ignore (allow interactive)
2: Set User Modifiable Options to:
Mouse > Sensitivity: [Disable]
Mouse > Button Clicks: [Disable]
Q: The F9 URL feature doesn't work on
certain systems.
A: On Windows NT/2000/XP
Screen Saver Control is required to be running in order to process F9
URL keystrokes. Screen Saver Control is a free add-on included with
Screen Saver Toolkit, so just select and include it with your screen
saver if you have an F9 URL requirement.
Q: Screen Saver Toolkit 2003 won't accept my JPEG2000 files.
A: There are a number of different
JPEG2000 file formats, including .J2K, .JP2, and others.
Screen Saver Toolkit 2003 supports .J2K files. (However, not all .J2K files are fully compatible; incompatible files may
lead to problems with your screen savers.)
You can create fully-compatible JPEG2000 files with
Stardust Image Encoder 2003, which also includes JPG, GIF, and PNG capability.
There are other JPEG2000 programs available on the web; however, they may or may not create
compatible JPEG2000 files.
Q: When my screen saver is run, the screen is blank.
A: The most likely cause of a blank screen saver is that system memory
and resources are too low to load the images. Try closing other
programs, or reboot the computer. You might also want to check the
system tray for unused applications. Many programs install a utility
into the system tray that uses up memory and resources even when the
program itself isn't running. Most of these utilities can be closed or removed.
Other possibilities include:
- The screen saver might be corrupt (bad download or hard drive) or
not properly installed. Try downloading and installing it again.
- The "Screen Scan" feature in McAfee anti-virus can cause this sort
of problem. If you're running McAfee, turn off Screen Scan.
- Your system can't play the sounds in this screen saver.
Try turning the sounds off with the General>Mute item in the "Options"
tab of the Display Properties screen saver Settings dialog,
and see if that makes any difference. If so, you may need a new version
of Windows Media Player, or new sound drivers.
